What’s included in your wood waxing and buffing service?

We buff your hardwood floor using a low-speed buffing machine. This will remove all scuff marks, inground dirt and grime from the timber, resulting in a thorough clean and bringing out the natural lustre. We then apply a specific wax according to your timber and massage it in with a lambswool pad with our buffing machine. If you wish to have added protection we can add a topical sealer for your timber floors; this comes in a gloss and satin finish.

Do I need a professional buff and wax my floor?

If your wooden floors have lost their shine or have cosmetic scratches then having a professional to buff and wax your floor is a cost-effective alternative to sanding or replacing your floors entirely. Unless the floors are heavily damaged, a buff and seal should have them looking like new once again.

What is the difference between waxing, buffing, varnish, polish and sealer?

Floor waxing: is a method of applying a wax specific to your timber with our buffing machines to restore its original colour. There are several different ways to wax a floor and many different products and solutions to use on your timber floors. Our experts will determine the best method for your floors. Regardless of which method is chosen, waxing your floors is an excellent way to restore them and keep them looking their best. Buffing: If your floor has previously been coated with a sealer or a polish, it is then possible to buff it with our specialised timber floor buffing machines to restore the coatings original lustre. Using the most innovative and effective techniques our technicians are experts in bringing your floor back to life. Varnish: Is usually a solvent based paint meant to be applied to raw timber to emphasise a certain characteristic or colour of your floor. This is usually done when the timber floor is first laid by the installers and generally doesn’t have to be done again unless you were to sand the floor. Our technicians are skilled in applying all types of coatings – so if you are unsure of how to apply varnish, contact us today! Polish and sealer: After your floor has been varnished, it is highly recommended to apply a coating in order to protect the actual timber surface. A high quality sealer will go about this naturally. If you wish to add more of a sheen, a polish is then added on top of the sealer coating and can be applied to give a mirror finish result.

Will my floor have a shine?

Depending on the service that is performed on your floors, generally the only time your floor will have an increased sheen is when our technicians carry out timber sealing and polishing. You can choose the level of sheen that you floor will have, so don’t worry. The level of shine ranges from satin, to gloss and if you’re really keen – mirror finish.

Are your waxing or polish products toxic?

Your family, workers and customers’ safety is important, which is why we prefer to use non-toxic finishing agents. This not only protects your timber floors but the people that come into contact with it as well.

How often should I professionally buff and wax my timber floors?

We recommend every 1 – 2 years, depending on how heavy the foot traffic is and your own personal preference. Most of our regular customers schedule an appointment annually as both preventative and general maintenance. This may be more frequent in commercial and business locations.

How can I regularly clean my timber floors between visits?

To keep your wooden floors looking like they’ve just been professionally cleaned, we first recommend sealing them. This will provide a protective barrier from spills and dirt, making it easier to clean yourself. Tile Cleaning Experts also recommends cleaning weekly cleaning and mopping with a pH neutral product, as well as doormats at entrances. This will avoid grit being walked onto the floor and prevent scratching. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations and avoid excess moisture, as this may damage the natural material. Standing water can dull the finish or discolour it. We do not recommend stronger solution for your regular weekly cleaning, as both acidic and alkaline based cleaners may affect the integrity of the sealer and can damage the timber. How long does it take to polish or reseal my timber floors? While this largely depends on the area and size of the job, it should be completed in 4 – 6 hours.
