SHOWER REGROUTING

Bathroom & Shower tile regrouting

Due to stained and decaying grout lines, does your shower or bathroom appear old and worn? Don’t panic; Melbourne’s Tile Cleaning Experts are here to save your tiles! To restore the lustre and cleanliness to your bathing areas, we specialise in shower and bathroom regrouting services.

Shower regrouting is an easy solution to repairing flaky, missing or discoloured grout in your Melbourne home. Old and missing grout can make your shower look really run down. Because of this you might be thinking of replacing the tiles. However, it is much easier and more cost effective to regrout your shower tiles than replace them.

Using specialised hand-held tools and machinery, we remove the grout from your shower safely and efficiently. This is to make sure we do not damage your shower tiles. We then mix the grout, based on your colour choice. The grout we use has a strong uniform colour, reduces efflorescence, mould and is polymer fortified (flexible). This is especially important as showers are subject to a lot of moisture. The grout we use also reduces the likelihood of cracking due to building movement.

Along with regrouting your shower, we can do a complete shower restoration or even a bathroom restoration.

HOW WE WORK OUR SHOWER REGROUTING MAGIC

  • Inspection – We do a detailed inspection of your shower. This is to make sure we identify everything that needs to be done in relation to the regrouting. We also discuss with you the expectations you have in relation to the  regrouting process and finish for your shower.
  • Quote –  We provide you with a full quote before we start any work on your shower. This way you know exactly how much the regrouting will cost upfront.
  • Old Grout– Using hand held equipment, we remove the old, broken and discoloured grout from the shower. We take special care not to damage the shower tiles while taking the old grout out.  We also always make sure that just enough grout is taken out to allow the  new replacement grout to bond properly.
  • Clean the Tiles – After the old grout is removed we then carefully clean the shower tiles to remove any dirt or loose debris.
  • Choose the Grout – You are assured that we only use the best quality grout that is suitable for the task at hand. If you like, you can choose a different grout colour. This is an easy way to update the look of your shower.
  • Mix the Grout – We mix new grout, based on your colour choice.
  • Application – We carefully apply your new grout seamlessly. We take particular care to make sure grout joints are filled completely. This is especially important for showers.
  • Remove Excess Grout – Grout lines are cleaned and any grout haze removed from the shower tiles.
  • Cure Grout – Grout takes 24 hours to cure. This allows the bonds to fully form. Avoid using the shower during this time.
  • Buff Excess Grout – When the grout has dried we will buff off any excess grout with a clean dry white cloth.
  • Grout is Sealed – We then seal the grout to help protect it from mould, mildew and further discolouration or damage. For showers, this step is essential.
  • Voila – hello new grout that looks great and it is much easier to keep your shower clean!

KITCHEN STONE BENCHTOP RESTORATION

KITCHEN STONE BENCHTOP RESTORATION

Stone Benchtop Restoration

At Tile Cleaning Experts we specialise in kitchen stone benchtop restorations. Benchtops are one of the most heavily used areas of a kitchen. As food is prepared on your kitchen bench it is important that everything is as hygienic as possible. In addition, as a lot of kitchens are now open plan, a kitchen not looking at it’s best can a negative impact on the rest of your living and dining areas.

Marble, limestone and travertine are considered soft stones. This means when they are used for kitchen benchtops, although they are very hard wearing, they are suspectible to staining. As well, spilt oil and liquids can penetrate it’s surface – causing stains. On the other hand, even though granite is a harder stone, it can also stain from spills.

Fortunately, we are experts at getting engineered stone benchtops looking their best again. We do this by using specialised machinery with diamond infused polishing pads. This restores the natural lustre of your natural stone kitchen benchtop.

It takes a lot of skill and experience to resurface a natural stone kitchen benchtop. If done incorrectly it can actually make the scratches and stains on your benchtop worse. That’s why you can trust Tile Cleaning Experts as we have the training as well as many years of experience in resurfacing natural stone kitchen benchtops.

SILICONE REPAIRS

SILICONE REPAIRS

Over time, silicone around shower and bath edges, kitchen tops, vanities, splashbacks and other water-exposed areas in your home can become discoloured, trap mould, peel and even stain. Not only does it make your kitchen, bathroom or laundry look dirty, but it is unhygienic as well. It may also be causing water damage without you even realising it. This is why Tile Cleaning Experts specialise in silicone repairs.  We understand how important it is to not only have your home free of dirty and mould, but also protected from water damage.

In most cases, silicone can’t be cleaned. This means replacement of the silicone is necessary. By replacing the silicone you not only restore the clean lines, but also waterproof the adjoining areas.

We also do expansion joint replacement. This is a silicone-like elastomeric sealant found on hard floors, both tiled and concreted. The joints between these surfaces are deeper, wider and thicker than wet areas that just require silicone.  Expansion joint replacement means that when your floor moves over time, no cracking will show.

Our trained technicians also do minor tile repairs. We often notice damaged tiles in  showers, bathrooms, patio and other tiled areas when we are doing our silicone repairs.

HERE’S HOW WE WORK OUR MAGIC:

  • Inspection – We do a detailed inspection. This is to make sure we identify all the damaged silicone that needs to be replaced.
  • Discussion –  We discuss with you the expectations you have in relation to the silicon replacement process and the finish you are after.
  •  Quote – We provide you with a full quote before we start any work. This way you know exactly how much the silicone repair will cost upfront.
  • Remove the old silicone – We carefully remove the old silicone using specialised tools and equipment.
  • Deep clean of adjoining areas –  All adjoining areas are given a deep clean using a specialised solution. We make sure we remove any residues that can prevent the new silicone from sticking.
  • Drying out any remaining moisture – We make sure that all areas are dry before we begin the next step.
  • Colour matching – Before we apply the silicone we ensure it colour matches to your tiles and grout.
  • New silicone is applied – The new silicone is applied and smoothed out to a professional finish.
  • Excess Silicone removed – All silicone residue is removed. This is done before the silicone starts to dry.
  • Effective Seal – We do a thorough check to make sure the silicone has created an effective seal.
  • Voila – hello clean silicone. Not only does it look great but no more unhealthy mould growing.
  • After silicone repair care – The area where the silicone has been repair (eg shower) should not be used for 24 hours.

EFFLORESCENCE REMOVAL

EFFLORESCENCE REMOVAL

Efflorescence Treatment

Efflorescence is the crystalline deposit of salts often seen on the surface of concrete, brick, stucco or natural stone surfaces. It usually looks like a white powder on the edge of the surface.  However, if the surface is particularly porous, eg sandstone, the tiles itself will have the efflorescence.

Efflorescence usually occurs when the tiles have been installed over concrete that has not completely dried. Basically, as water evaporates, the minerals and salt deposits are too heavy to evaporate.

Although most Melbourne home owners consider it to be very unsightly it won’t make you sick like mould can. However, while people think that it’s mainly a cosmetic issue, it can also indicate excessive moisture or leaking underneath the tiles or floors of your Melbourne home. In addition, water leaks can lead to weakening tile glue. This can cause your tiles to fall off or become loose. In addition, it may also cause structural damage. This type of damage can occur in both Melbourne free-standing homes as well as high-rise apartments.

Melbourne is more prone to efflorescence. This is because in cooler climates, concrete that is laid in winter is more likely to produce efflorescence. This is due to bricklayers and tilers often using calcium chloride to accelerate the set time of the concrete.

Efflorescence is commonly found on garage floors, house slabs, foundations, concrete, patios, driveways, courtyards, pathways, retaining walls and chimneys.

We provide our efflorescence removal services to  marble, slatebluestone, sandstone,  and limestone as well as ceramic tiles. So no matter the surface you can trust Tile Cleaning Experts to remove unsightly efflorescence.

STRIPPING & SEALING

Tile Sealing & Removal

Tile Sealing, Stripping & Removal Melbourne

If the stone or tile surfaces in your Melbourne home have already been sealed but still look dirty when you give them a good clean, it may mean that the tiles need to be stripped back before they are are cleaned and sealed again. By taking the extra step of removing the seal coating on your stone or tiles means you get rid of hard to remove grime and stains. It is one of the best ways to bring your floors back to looking their best.

Before applying the new sealer to protect your flooring, the existing sealer must be carefully removed. We do this using professional chemicals, solutions and equipment. If this isn’t done properly, you may end up permanently damaging your floors. The stone or tile surface is then scrubbed to make sure the stripper has penetrated the sealer completely. This process may need to be repeated until all the sealer has been removed. Some sealers also emit harmful fumes when being stripped back, so appropriate equipment is vital. That’s why stripping tiles should always be left to the professionals.

Once stripped, our experts select the best sealer based on the type of your flooring. There are hundreds of sealers on the market – different materials require different types of sealer. Two common types of sealers are used for stone and tile surfaces. The first one leaves a natural appearance, known as a matte or satin finish. The second one leaves a shiny surface. However, no matter what type of sealant you use, both will protect your tiles or stones.

By stripping and sealing your tiles, grout and flooring, you reduce stains and make future cleaning more manageable. Sealing creates a barrier that protects the flooring from chemical spills, pets, deterioration and other stains. It also makes it easier to clean. That’s why so many choose to have their stone and tiles stripped and sealed when they get them cleaned.

Along with stripping and sealing ceramic tiles, we also seal marbleslatebluestone, sandstonelimestoneporcelain tiles and quarry tiles. So no matter the surface you can trust Tile Cleaning Experts to bring back their sparkle.

It’s inevitable – tiles damage with wear and tear. Rather than tiling the entire area, we can take some of the original tiles (if you have spares) or get them matched to save on cost. Minor tile repair is the perfect solution to cracked or chipped tiles.

  • We assess the damaged tile area and discuss your expectations and confirm cost before we start.
  • We carefully remove the damaged tiles by hand.
  • If your tiles are damaged then we’ve got you covered – we do minor tile repairs.

MINOR TILE REPAIRS

You can rest easy knowing that treat our customers’ homes as if they were our own. When removing tiles by hand it’s not always possible to keep every tile intact, but we try our best to ensure the integrity of all tiles. However, we cannot take responsibility for damage due to the nature of the work.
